FLUTES FROM
AROUND THE WORLD
Suzanne offers
clinics to College Flute Departments, Flute Clubs, and Private Flute
Studios.
In this
fascinating lecture/presentation, Suzanne will introduce over 25 different
flutes and wind instruments from around the world. Presenting an overview of the history and cultural use of
each instrument, she also demonstrates musical examples on each one providing
interesting personal and historical stories as well.
She also provides
a hands-on opportunity for the students and information on how to obtain these
hard-to-find instruments.
With her
unique background and career, she inspires the students to be open to the wide
world of music and the many musical career possibilities that exist today.
A partial list
of the flutes that she brings to the workshop include: bass flute, alto flute, Chinese bamboo
flutes (dizi), Turkish flute (ney), Egyptian winds (mijwiz), Turkish oboe
(zurna), ocarina, Native American flute, Indonesian flute (suling), Chinese
gourd oboe (hu lu se), East Indian bansuri, African Fulani flute, Hawaiin nose
flute, pan pipes, penny whistle, low whistle, Bulgarian dyovanka, and more.
